Plot-bunnies and a twist
Jan. 21st, 2009 03:42 pmI currently have a struggling, half-formed plot-bunny, courtesy of
ladychi; the idea was to come on here and post that, but it hasn't quite worked itself out yet, and then the following occurred to me in rough form due to an interesting reinterpretation of the term 'Who-fic'. It amused me, so I figured, hey, why not:
A TARDIS he has (which is painted bright blue)
With space on the inside for me and for you
Though the outside is small, and it gives not a clue
Apart from its age, and unusual hue.
The Doctor, who always knows just what to do
(Except for those times, which are happily few,
When it seems, I'm afraid, that he hasn't a clue)
Would surely be happy to meet up with you
And just maybe to travel the universe, too!
For that is what he does: flit through time and through space,
Solving puzzles, protecting the whole human race
And other ones too, off all over the place.
I do have to admit, sometimes things lack good reason--
There are quirks and confusions strewn throughout each season
Where a writer perhaps found himself most distraught,
Written into a corner, or lacking in plot
Or perhaps simply wanted to break some new ground,
Find a big shiny building to centre around,
Or yet play with the subtext. A fun thing to use;
Fans certainly seem to find divergent views
Of the same single moment. Well, what can I say,
Fandoms do simply seem to be wired that way.
In the end, fans may grumble, ignore bits, pooh-pooh,
And the many such things that some fans like to do,
Yet they find and they watch it, and most will still say,
"Well, it's all Doctor Who. Let it go. What the hey!"
Well, that did work out longer than I expected. You may notice from the first bit that it was all supposed to rhyme with the entire thing. Ah well, most of Seuss' stuff didn't anyway.
Hope you enjoyed!
